FAQ Zumba Gold®

What is Zumba Gold®?
Zumba® Gold takes the Latin and International dance rhythms you know and love from regular Zumba® classes and brings them to the active older adult, beginner participant and other special populations that may require modifications.

So who is the Zumba Gold® Participant?

Zumba Gold® fitness class is ideal for:
- Absolute beginner in Zumba
- Active older population

- Those who have not been doing regular exercise
- **Those returning to exercise following injury (knee, ankle, hip and etc)
- **Pregnant women
- Those with physical limitations
- and of course... Man who loves to workout without dancing to choreography

**please seek for advice/medical release from your doctor before joining the class

In other words, Zumba Gold may be just the right pace for those with injuries especially those with knee problems or those who are new to cardio exercise.

Regular Zumba® Class participants may also find the low impact Zumba Gold® as alternative/supplement to perfecting their footwork, and more time to enjoy the music :)

Zumba Gold® may be done in chairs too!

Zumba Gold® Chair Class is ideal for:

- Seniors age 70++ and those who cannot stand too long while doing exercise

- Participants bound to wheel chair and/or limited mobility

Is Zumba Gold® a slowed down version of Zumba®? What makes it different?

No.  And yes…

Many of the songs are a mixture of songs used in regular Zumba® classes as well as funky old songs that baby boomers find as favourites. Zumba Gold® class choreography is usually a little bit different, where some of the moves such as swivelling, jumping, pivoting, lots of hip movements and jerky/uncontrolled movements will be swapped with easier, lower impact moves.

I am new to exercise – do I HAVE to start out in a Zumba Gold® class?
Absolutely not.  Those new to exercise are more than welcome in regular Zumba® classes, please go where ever you feel most comfortable.  While it came be really helpful to start in Zumba Gold® where the choreography is a bit easier, and the whole class is low impact it really is up to you where you want to go.

The same goes for pregnant women.  If you were active and participating in Zumba before becoming pregnant, chances are (with your doctor’s approval of course) you can continue participating in regular Zumba classes as long as you are comfortable doing so.  Or you may feel that you want to go to the low impact Zumba Gold® for your pregnancy, and/or during the first few weeks returning to exercise after giving birth (you will need your doctors approval before returning to any exercise after giving birth).

How long are the classes?
The class I teach is normally 60 minutes in length, but this can vary from instructor to instructor and class to class.  Most Zumba Gold® classes are 30, 45, or 60 minutes in length.

Zumba Gold chair class however is conducted for 30 minutes.

If its low impact will I get a good workout?
Yes! Even if your heart rate doesn’t really get high during Zumba Gold®, but in average, you will lose 270-300 calories!

What should I wear?
Wear whatever you can move comfortably in – a T-shirt/sleeveless top, pants/shorts and a pair of sneakers.  Bring a bottle of water, and sweat towel ;)

How do I find out the schedule - where and when Zumba Gold® is held?
For my classes, you can check my personal Zumba® page here. Or, you can also check out the "Find A Class" section on the Zumba® website.  All you need to do is enter your address and it will bring up a listing of all of the classes in your area

That's all for now! Please feel free to email me at zumbagoldkk@gmail.com should you need any info in regards to Zumba Gold
® or my class.

Cheers!
